After today's short distance race, 4miles,  I could see the improvement after training for a couple of months:

Run As One, TGL Classic (April 13, 2008) - 34:39 (finish time) and 8:39 (pace/mile)

Run for Central Park (July 19, 2008) - 30:39 (finish time) and 7:39 (pace/mile).
